Divided House! APC South West frowns at Buhari’s tribal appointments, rejects Saraki, Dogora |
The South West state Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have expressed anger and displeasure over the pattern of appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari, with the obvious ethnic slant.
Aside from Spokesman, Femi Adeshina, every other appointments so far by Buhari have been from the core north, all northern Muslims.
They have also vowed not to recognise the emergence of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara until the crisis revolving around the National Assembly contest is sufficiently resolved by the party.
In a joint statement, the chairmen vowed to resist any attempt by some elements in the party to humiliate Asiwaju Bola.
According to them if this is move is not halted, the reaction of the region could have devatating consequences.
Those who signed the statement are Chief Henry Ajomale, Lagos state, Prince Gboyega Famoodun, Osun state, Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniji, Ogun state, Chief Akin Oke, Oyo state, Chief Olajide Awe, Ekiti state and Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, Ondo state
.They insisted that ” the two presiding officers of the National Assembly should apologise to the party to avoid compounding their problems.”
They warned that they would soon broke their silence over the ill-treatment of the national leader of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by some elements in the APC.
According to them “those trying either to intimidate and embarrass Tinubu to retrace their steps as the South West response will shock everyone to the foundation.”
Tinubu had rejected the emergence of Saraki insisting that the senate president should apologise to him for the coup.
But Tinubu who has a large chunk of the party’s SW flank on a leash seems to be alone on this matter as President Muhammadu Buhari and key party officials had already met with Saraki and speaker Yakubu Dogara.
Curiously, Tinubu and former chairman, Bisi Akande were absent.
Akande had accused some northern elements in the party of hijacking Buhari while Tinubu had blamed Buhari for the crisis in the NASS for what he called his ‘aloofness’
A key SW member of the party, Ayo Opadokun had last week said the Yoruba ‘made a mistake’ by voting Buhari, as according to him, ex President Goodluck Jonathan’s return would have been a better deal for the zone.
