Tinubu reversal of Buhari on AIT highlights deep division in APC government. Yorubas battle Hausa Fulani for the soul of Nigeria

  • Buhari did not consult Tinubu, Osinbajo or Oyegun
  • Increasing dichotomy in APC ranks
  • Tinubu couldn't reach Buhari on issue
  • Buhari furious with Tinubu for reversing his decision
The recent reversal of the decision of Muhammadu Buhari to bar African Independent Television (AIT), from covering his activities, Bola Tinubu, highlights a brewing crisis within the ranks of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as they battle for the control of the Nigerian government. The battle is mainly between the Hausa-Fulani and the the Yourubas who were instrumental in the emergence of Buhari as Nigeria's President-elect. The Biafran gathered that it becoming increasingly difficult for Tinubu to reach Buhari as he used to as Hausa-Fulani caucus of the party around Buhari is shielding is trying to cut off ties with Tinubu.

APC and Buahri on collision course over media clampdown: AIT is free to cover Buhari's activities - APC overules 'democratic' dictator
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and General Muhammadu Buhari are on a collision course over his determination to clampdown on opposing voices and press freedom. The Biafran reported earlier that Buhari has barred  the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his activities. However, reacting to incident the APC has said that all accredited media organizations in the country, including the AIT, are free to cover the activities of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
This is the first time the party is openly contradicting Buhari, who rode into power based on the freedom President Goodluck Jonathan granted the press and the masses to criticize his government.

This sacred demand of ours is further necessitated by shocking discoveries we made in the course of our recent investigations on the finances of the States in Nigeria; whereby most of the States were found enmeshed in serial borrowings and other indebtedness. Public financial records of the affected States as it concerns local borrowings were also found roguish and distorted. Many of the States under reference were found owing their retired and serving workforces billions of naira. Bauchi State, for instance, owes its workforce about N11billion.

Nigeria’s Next Leader’s Ties to a Heroin Ring: At last US media turns their guns on Tinubu!

Nigeria’s Next Leader’s Ties to a Heroin Ring: At last US media turns their guns on Tinubu!
General Muhammed Buhari’s political partner is a former bagman for two heroin traffickers. But that’s just business as usual in Nigeria. Nigeria’s election last month was celebrated as an unlikely victory for democracy in an African country with a tenuous record of free and fair representation. But the man most responsible for midwifing General Muhammed Buhari’s ballot triumph over current President Goodluck Jonathan has a spotty CV. Former Lagos provincial governor Bola Tinubu, affectionately nicknamed the Jagaban, is today seen as a shrewd if not “deeply Machiavellian” Svengali in Nigeria’s politics as well as the architect of a hugely successful anti-corruption platform. But 20 years ago he had to forfeit nearly half a million dollars to the U.S. Treasury Department after being named as an accomplice in a white heroin-trafficking and money-laundering ring that stretched from West Africa to the U.S. Midwest.

Dr. Femi Aribisala, a pastor and Vanguard columnist, in this interaction with Vanguard editors, ventilates his passion for President Goodluck Jonathan and explains his position on the person and politics of the president-elect, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari. Excerpts:

"If Buhari had contested in the United States, there is no way that he could win. It is impossible. We know his antecedents. Nigeria doesn’t even teach history in schools. Once you bring up the antecedents, the very idea of having such a person gunning for a position, not even talk of the presidency, would have nullified his candidacy."

He blamed it on what he called 'computer fabricators' who manipulated his words and took them out of context. The good thing was that he forgot to claim that his facebook account was hacked. Over 3 million Biafrans were massacred by the Nigerian government in a genocidal war and till date not a single person has been convicted despite documented evidence of the war crimes.

It leaves IGBO people often feeling confused as if victims of a social conspiracy.
