Nigeria's mineral resources injustice: Al-Makura inaugurates committee on solid Exploration in Nasarawa to increase state's wealth
The injustice associated with mineral resources in Nigeria is mind-blowing. Whereas oil resources revenue in Biafra belongs to the entire states in the country, solid minerals, which abounds in the northern part of Nigeria belong to the states.

The Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Al-Makura, couple of days ago inaugurated a nine man committee to look into ways of harnessing the abundant mineral resources in the state.

Inaugurating the committee in government house, Lafia, Al-Makura said the move has become necessary to diversify the economy of the state bearing in mind the dwindling revenue allocation from the federation account.

Al-Makura explained that the committee is set up to ensure that the state explore ways of ensuring that it gets the benefits derived from the mineral resources that abound in the state.

He decried policy summersaults as the brain behind the non-harnessing of the mineral deposits in the state, saying part of the term of reference of the committee is to look for the way forward in getting potential investors to exploit the abundant resources in the state.

The governor added that the committee has also been mandated to look for outfit and agencies that are responsible for articulating government policies and implementation on mineral resources.
