ISIS makes Boko Haram stronger - Buhari succumbs. Demonstrates 'weakness' to fight terrorists |
In an apparent demonstration of incompetence and submission the superior firepower of Boko Haram, General Muhammadu Buhari yesterday declared that Boko Haram's alliance with ISIS have made the terrorists stronger. This is according t a report by the Northern Nigerian based Leadership newspaper.
Buhari stated this when he hosted members of the Islamic diplomatic corps led by the Saudis to a Ramadan breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja urged the international community to assist Nigeria in combating the sect.
Noting that victory for Nigeria against the terrorists would be victory for the world, Buhari observed that Boko Haram’s cooperation with ISIS was an indication of the global threat of terrorism.
He added that his government was doing its best to tame the group, a move which informed the recent relocation of the military command and control centre to Maiduguri to get them closer to the theater of war.
According to Buhari, the recent changes in the hierarchy of the armed forces was to re-jig the nation’s security architecture to make it more effective in the fight against Boko Haram
He noted that he has also been rallying neighbouring countries’ cooperation in the fight against terrorism to ensure that every inch of the nation’s territory was safe.
Buhari thanked members of the diplomatic corps who supported him while running for office, adding that their confidence in him would not be in vain.
Boko Haram, which was receeding towards the end of Goodluck Jonathan's admnistration have been re-energised under Buhari. They are daily launching deadly attacks in a renewed effort to over run the country.
Nearly 1000 people have reportedly been killed since that past month when Buhari came back to power.
Buhari, with this declaration has demonstrated loss of morale and his inability to combat the terrorists who shares similar religious ideologies as he does.
Boko Haram terrorists yesterday invaded Hambagtha and Limankara in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State killing scores of people and destroying houses, a report from Vanguard says.
This came as three persons suspected to be members of the sect were apprehended in Terminus area of Jos North local government area of Plateau State but the State Police Command allayed the fears of residents, saying there was no need to panic.
The terrorists also wounded many people after looting their foodstuff, including livestock, and fled without confrontation from the hapless villagers.
Gwoza was declared as an Islamic Caliphate by the group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, last year when his fighters seized the town which is south and about 150kms from Maiduguri, the state capital.
After the deadly attacks and taken over of Gwoza by the terrorists last year, including Limankara village, no fewer than 40 policemen undergoing training at the Limankara Mobile Training Camp were declared missing, although a few of them were reported to have been located and rescued, with over 30 still missing at the time of this report.
Reliable sources told Vanguard that with the liberation of Gwoza by military troops early this year, many fleeing residents returned to Gwoza and other surrounding villages to pick up the pieces of their lives, before another group of terrorists launched fresh attacks on neighbouring communities, killing unspecified number of people.
