Nigerian security forces stood by as jihadists in Kano falsely accused an Igbo Christian woman of blasphemy and had her beheaded. The rampaging mob subsequently paraded her head along the streets of Kano, while police and army stood by.

This is a contrast to what has been going on in the Eastern Region of Nigeria, where police and soldiers are recklessly shooting unarmed protesters for merely marching on the streets.

In the latest atrocious acts of Nigerian jihadists, the Igbo woman simply identified as Bridget was provoked by a Hausa-Fulani Muslim, who later turned around to accuse her of blasphemy. The murder happened at about 5.00pm on Thursday at the Kofar Wambai market in Kano State capital.

The beheaded woman according to reports was provoked by a young man who came in front of her shop to wash his legs for prayers. The woman pleaded with him to leave and the young man got offended. Turning round to accuse her of blasphemy. The woman's head was later chopped off.

"As this happened, there was no shooting, none of the perpetrators of this heinous crime was said to have been killed or arrested. No soldier or police was there to control this barbarism.

"Security agents are always quick to be deployed on unarmed people but in the face of real crimes, they will be nowhere! Is security of lives and properties provided depending on which side of the divide?" An internet user observed.

Kano State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Ransom Bello, confirmed Bridget’s death and expressed deep sadness over the reported nature of her death.

“I have just been notified of the very sad development,” he said.

He also added that an emergency meeting of the Christian body will hold today to determine the next line of action.
