| Niger Delta Avengers: Ijaws Lampoon Itsekiri group over hate statements |
The Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI), has said, the Itsekiri group, the Iwere new Era Watch (INEW), who said that Ijaws are denting Niger Delta image is suffering from dementia, cataract, menier diseases and that they are still living in the past.
Reacting to the purported Itsekiri group comment on vanguard newspaper on the 7th June,2016, the national president of IPDI, Austin Ozobo said the Itsekiris are only expressing their hatred for Ijaws over previous communal clashes both tribes have had in the past.
He said the group and it leaders Jubemi Mofeosan and Joshua Edemakporo are mentally deranged, suffering from optical impairments and hearing disorder which have impaired them from appreciating the beauty of having Ijaws in the midst of other Niger Deltans.
The group said they were disappointed and that some Itseriki sponsored groups could condescend so low to criminalize Ijaw nation by carrying out mischievous and malicious reports against the Ijaws while Ijaws were fighting for fair share of the Niger Delta's wealth.
Ozobo debunked that Ijaws are not criminalizing Niger Delta image and the Itsekiris are major beneficiaries of Ijaw quest for better Niger Delta and should be grateful for having a tribe like Ijaw to champion their course.
IPDI, said the Itsekiri group, the Iwere new Era Watch, and its people are still sleeping and urged them to wake up from their slumbers.
This is their usual lifestyle, we are not surprised, During the 2005 agitation same thing they did but when the amnesty came they continue to fight to be considered which they are very well considered today, their sons are now two times project directors in NDDC, which is a creation of the struggle, their sons and daughters are now trained abroad under amnesty scheme, the 13% derivation is a creation of the struggle, ministry of Niger Delta and DESOPADEC are also creation of the struggle and many more.
The group said Ijaw is not smearing Niger Delta image and other ethnic nationalities but only contributing for the wellbeing of the region.
"Niger Delta is deprived from what I called the wealth of the region and that is a known fact, same problem Itsekiris are sharing. the Itsekiris should pursue things that will contribute to the wellbeing of the region and stop fighting their brothers or poke-nosing for political appointments and contracts."
Ozobo, said ethnic nationalities in Niger Delta are owing Ijaw appreciation for being the voice of the other voiceless Niger Delta ethnic nationalities such as the Itsekiris.
