Breaking: At last Buhari FORCES Ekpeyong DSS boss out! |
General Muhammadu Buhari has finally forced out Ita Ekpeyong, the director-general of the department of states service (DSS) out of office, in what was shabbily masked as a resignation. Buhari has been at loggerheads with the secret service for what he perceived as their support and loyalty for the Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
Buhari and is aides have been making various frantic efforts against the DSS. Last week they barred DSS agents from providing close body protection, preferring Hausa/Fulani soldiers. The backlash generated by the move made Buhari to u-turn on the directive while seeking a more subtle way to dismember the DSS and replace the management with acolytes.
According to The Cable, Ekpeyong submitted his resignation letter around 10am, and one L. M. Daura from Katsina State is being tipped to succeed him. Buhari has never hidden his proclivity to nepotsm. 99% of all appointments he has made so far have been from the Northern Nigeria.
Ekpenyong was appointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2010 after dismissing Afakriya Gadzama.
