Sahara Reporters practice "Boko Haram journalism" - Zimbabwean minister hits back at Nigerian journalists for "uncouth misconduct"

Sahara Reporters practice "Boko Haram journalism" - Zimbabwean minister hits back
The Zimbabwe’s Information minister Jonathan Moyo has hit out at Sahara Reporters who besieged President Robert Mugabe last Friday, haranguing him with questions over his lengthy stay in power.

According to Moyo, “Free countries have rules including diplomatic courtesy not the display of Boko Haram journalism,” charged Moyo on Twitter Monday.

This was revealed by a report of the New Zimbabwe, published in the UK.

The Sahara Reporters representative had on Friday badgered through Mugabe's security details, with his security team seemingly at sea,and asking the veteran leader how he felt witnessing the handover of power in Nigeria while refusing to retire in his native Zimbabwe.

Moyo said the incident was a “pre-planned onslaught on a visiting Head of State.”
“These are political activists masquerading as journalists who imagine their countries as a model of democracy,” said the minister.

“That would not happen in Zimbabwe against any visiting head of State or Government, not even Barack Obama or David Cameron.

“The ‘journalists’ or whoever they are, were not asking questions, but were making fools of themselves and their country.”
He added: “If Nigeria journalism has come to be this, then God help Nigeria since nobody has monopoly over such uncouth misconduct.”
