The bombing of creeks in Calabar and Akwa Ibom by the Nigerian Air Force and Navy is a provocation - IPOB |
The indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the bombing of creeks in Calabar and Akwa Ibom. The IPOB describes it as a provocative attempt to preempt reactions from Biafrans.
The creeks of Calabar were yesterday bombed by the Nigerian Air Force for over an hour following orders of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu, DailyTrust reports.
Commander of the 207 Special Mobility Group based in Calabar, Air Commodore Charles Ohwo said the air force was able to bomb suspected targets in the entire creeks of Calabar waterways up to Bakassi and environs and that the raid would extend to creeks in Akwa Ibom State.
The exercise was planned in conjunction with the Navy, Army and police, but led by the Air Force “because of reach and air advantage. Innocent lives were not affected.”
According to the reports, the bombing was conducted to dislodge gunmen suspected to be pirates and militants on the Calabar waterways, who carry out frequent attacks on vessels, police stations and seafarers including market women on the Calabar waterways.
In a special broadcast today, Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radion Biafra and leader of the IPOB called on Biafrans especially those in the Niger Delta to rally around each other as Buhari begins to attack Biafra.
With this Buhari is showing his support for Boko Haram and disdain for Biafra.
It is very appalling that Nigerian Airforce is being restrained from bombing Boko Haram terrorists hideouts in the north forcing Chad to carry out air bombardments inside Nigeria's airspace while they prefer to go after phantom pirates and militants in Biafra.
