Nigerian Senators To Start Using Facebook for Public Policy and Governance; To Receive Training From Facebook Africa Team
The senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and their aides are to receive free Facebook training at the National Assembly on Monday, November 17.
This was made known in a press statement signed by Isa Galaudu, the Chief of staff to the President of the Senate.
The training is to ensure a more representative legislature using technology and parliamentary tools.
The statement read in part: “The new media department of the office of the Senate president, in conjunction with Facebook, wishes to inform you that we will be hosting a Facebook training for senators on the use of Facebook, social media for public policy and governance.
“The head of the public policy at Facebook Africa will be flying in from the United Kingdom with members of her team to conduct this training which is scheduled to hold on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 12pm in the senate building.”
The Facebook team will be led by the African Head of Public Policy.
According to Bamikole Omishore, the special assistant to the president of the Senate on social media, the training is at no cost to the Senate as Facebook offered to conduct the training free.
