Produce Nnamdi Kanu now - Mbaise Catholic priests demand. Agitation for Biafra not improper

Produce Nnamdi Kanu now - Mbaise Catholic priests demand.  Agitation for Biafra not improper.
Against the backdrop that Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra has been brutalized by the men of the DSS, Rev Fr Ben Ogu, speaking on behalf  of the Ahiara catholic diocese priests who have joined the league of individuals and groups that have called on the DSS to bring Kanu to the court on Monday as ordered by the court.

Fr Ogu who stated this during a chat with our correspondents. He said the best the DSS could do to reassure the people of the South East and South South zones of the country is to bring Kanu to the court on Monday as have been ordered. He added that failure to do so will confirm the fear that Kanu has been severely brutalized in its custody.

Fr Ogu said the agitation for Biafra is not improper as the Biafran have always been treated as slaves in Nigeria, a country in which they have contributed so immensely to its growth.
He lamented that the marginalization and exclusion of the Igbos is evident in the leadership structure of Nigeria, which leaves no room for an Igbo man to emerge as the president of the country or hold any prominent office that will empower his region or position it among the others that hold stakes in the country.

He said these are the issues that prompted the recent pro Biafra agitations championed by Nnamdi Kanu, who he said is not happy with the way the Biafrans are being treated in Nigeria adding that every progressive minded Igbo man should support the struggle to save the Biafra from a total annihilation and extinction.

Rev Fr Ben Ogu
He regretted that agitations from the other regions of Nigeria are usually settled with oil wells or multi-billion Naira contracts and even with choice jobs or appointments while any from the south east region is killed with intimidation and guns as is being witnessed in the Kanu episode reminding the federal government that the world is aware that no serious prosecution has been carried out on the arrested Boko Haram suspects in the country.

Fr Ogu blamed Igbo stakeholders, the Ohaneze and even Igbo governors for doing nothing to stop the ill treatment meted out to the Igbos in Nigeria owing to personal interests and advised them to do the needful now to checkmate the impact of what he referred to as a great conspiracy against the Igbos.

On the government of Imo state, Fr Ogu said it is very painful that Governor Okorocha who he said enjoyed the trust of the Imo people and who he also said rode to power on the platform of Ojukwu could turn against his people by subjecting them to abject poverty and penury through non payment of their salaries and even pensions to retirees all which he said have crippled Imo state economically and socially.

He added that what the Okorocha’s government has been able to achieve in the state are a few eye catching projects that have not added to the economic growth of the state, a lot of collapsed roads and the privatization of establishments put in place by the previous governments in the state all which leaves every alert minded and conscious Imo indigene with the impression that Imo state is already sold and will remain only a name in the nearest future if nothing is urgently done.

On the alleged missing 5billion Naira from the residence of Chief Uche Nwosu, The Chief of staff to Governor Okorocha, Fr Ogu said it is unfortunate if it is true that an individual could stash away such amount of money while people of the state are presently feeding from hand to mouth.

He asked the state government to try to prove that the rumour is false and also charged the people of the state to ask for their money, learn to be in charge of their governments and also learn to remove every bad leadership.
