Aba Riots: "Use every reasonable force to protect our common heritage" - Nigerian Police boss orders maximum crackdown on protesting civilians

Biafra: "Use every reasonable force to protect common heritage" - Nigerian Police boss orders maximum crackdown protesting civilians
Following the riots that erupted in Aba over the shooting of over five innocent Biafran traders resulting in the attack of police stations in Aba, Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase has ordered police formations to use every force available to them to repel attacks.

Arase, gave the order yesterday and warned members of the public on the unsavoury implications of such inappropriate behaviour.

According to Arase, “An attack on a Police Station is a criminal offence, and any person(s) involve in such act/action would be made to face the full wrath of the law”.

Consequently, the IGP directed all field Commanders to secure their Stations and Formations and to use "every reasonable force permitted by law to protect our common heritage”.

A statement from Force headquarters in this regard signed by CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force public relations officer noted that “Members of the public are advised to explore available and appropriate channels to ventilate their grievances”.

Biafrans are enraged by continuous Nigerian police brutality of civilians, which is relatively in Eastern Nigeria. It came to climax last week when many innocent traders died after being shot by combined team of police and soldiers.

Several police stations were attack as aftermath and Biafrans have been baying for the blood of the policemen who continue to go unpunished of their crimes. Many innocent civilians have met their untimely deaths at the hands of men of the Nigerian police without the culprits being brought to books.
