Why the Bristow Helicopter crashed

Why the Bristow Helicopter crashed
One of the royal fathers in Lagos State, Oba Basiru Oloruntoyin Saliu,Traditional ruler of Oworonsoki has proferred reasons why the Bristwo Helicopter crashed yesterday in the Lagos Lagoon.

The oba claims that supernatural forces in the Lagoon caused the crash.

"The government no longer pays attention to traditional rites, which is necessary to prevent such occurrences. For instance, how many times have we appeased the goddess this year?" The traditional ruler told Vanguard,

"An occurrence like this may be caused by the goddess because no human being can depict the depth of the lagoon; but if the goddess is appeased, she would have prevented such occurrence”.

That says it all about the mind-boggling ignorance and superstition that is rife in Yorubaland.

Meanwhile, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), on Wednesday said it had commenced investigation into the crash.

This is contained in a statement issued by the bureau’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Tunji Oketunbi, in Lagos.

Over 4 people reportedly died from the Bristow Crash in Lagos Lagoon
The statement said the investigation had commenced with the AIB Commissioner, Dr Felix Abali, leading the team.

The statement said 12 persons were believed to be on board.

NAN recalls that Bristow-owned helicopter crashed inside ExxonMobil Facility in Port Harcourt on Aug. 3, 2007.

Another crash involving Bristow Helicopters also occurred on July 14, 2011 in Port Harcourt.
