It has been revealed that Nigeria's Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi personally wrote the Nigeria's National Assembly to request for the deduction of a total of N1.9billion from various projects meant for Enugu and Abia states. This was to enable him in order to pad the budgeted amount for Baro Port Project in Niger State in Northern Nigeria.

This revelation was made by  Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, representing Niger North Senatorial Zone, while speaking to the TVC. According to Abdullahi, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media And Public Affairs, Amaechi wrote the assembly specifically asking them to make the following deductions:

600 million from Akanu Ibiam Airport International Terminal building project

700 million from Enugu Airport remodelling
