| Oluyemisi Adebayo scalded a toddler to death 130 degrees hot water |
A Yoruba nurse, Oluyemisi Adebayo in United States has been accused of killing a 23-month old girl with very hot bath that scalded her to death a day after she resumed work at the deceased’s parents’ house.
US media reports that the 54-year-old Adebayo, a New York licensed nurse was hired to take care of a baby girl, Naomi who was born prematurely.

But on Tuesday, April 21, her second day at work at her employers’ home, the middle-aged woman was alleged to have dipped little Naomi in scalding water, which burned pieces of skin off the child.
The little girl died on Monday, about a week after she was bathed with the scalding water by her nurse.
According to prosecutors, Adebayo who may be jailed for life or for 25 years was arrested on Wednesday at Kennedy Airport as she tried to flee and board a flight to Nigeria.
She has been charged with murder.
Prosecutors rejected her claims that she tested the temperature of the hot water with her own hand before putting Naomi in the tub, and only noticed skin falling off Naomi’s legs after she took the girl out of the tub.
They said the water from the tub spigot reached 130 degrees, and it took about two minutes to reach the maximum temperature.
It was also said the injuries suffered by Naomi were consistent with her being submerged up to her waist in 130-degree water for about 30 seconds, and that medical personnel said Adebayo’s account did not at all match up to the injuries observed.
Late Naomi was the only child of her mother, who suffered two miscarriages before Naomi was born.
