The series of massacre of Ndigbo in Nigeria from the forties up to the Nigeria-Biafra war which continued with the Boko Haram insurgency that killed thousands of Umuigbo, drove millions of them down to their Southern ancestral homes and further pursued and killed; with their women and daughters raped by armed Fulani herdsmen, etc, are serial sordid experiences of Ndigbo as a result of the seed of intense hatred sowed by the British and their agents in Nigeria.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, vowed to resist any plan to Islamise any part of Igboland. Kanu said that no part of Nigeria within Biafra territory will be islamised in his lifetime.

The ultimatum issued on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, after a meeting in Kaduna State by the following  groups:  Arewa Citizens Action for Change, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Arewa Youth Development Foundation, Arewa Students Forum, and the Northern Emancipation Network, asked the Igbo residing in the region to “start making plans to leave.” or else they will face a situation similar to the pre-civil war pogroms visited on their kin in the 1960s.

I am shocked that the Igbos are not speaking up at the apparent siege laid on their land by uniformed person of different categories. They range from Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence, Customs, FRSC, etc. My journey had taken me by road from Isele-Mkpitime, where I had gone to pay tribute to a Nigerian icon, Chief (Dr) P.K.C. So, Chief Isagba became my first major client as a tottering practising lawyer, trying to find my groggy feet. He became my bossom friend and elder brother.

I have tried to measure the contribution of the Igbos to the development of the Nigerian project and the conclusion I have reached is that Nigeria must do everything possible to get the Igbos to remain in the Nigerian union. They (Igbos) have contributed unprecedentedly to the development of Nigeria in EVERY sector. The Igbos are an exceptional Nigerian race; they are born entrepreneurs, geniuses, capitalists, industrialists, academics, adventurists and you name it. A Nigeria without these set of people and their drive for economic success might be boring and uninteresting.

A leaked conversation between a Christian soldier identified simply as Joe (for security reasons) and a Fulani counterpart, identified as Ibrahim has once again exposed the level of hatred and contempt the Hausa-Fulani oligarchs hold against Igbo-speaking Biafrans. They described Igbos as rats that need to be hunted down and killed. While discussing with his fulani counterpart, he was made brought into the grand plan of the Northern oligarchs to exterminate Biafrans and islamise the entire country. The details of the conversation resonate with a recent threat by General Muhammadu Buhari to commit mass suicide rather than see Biafrans regain their freedom.

Despite denials and dissociation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the threat handed out to Biafras in Lagos, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has confirmed that the APC will make life hell for Igbos in Lagos. Okorocha while speaking to journalists in Imo State capital, Owerri, following the visit  Muhammadu Buhari, defended the Oba of Lagos and pointed out that the Oba of Lagos was not totally wrong in insisting that Igbos must vote Ambode, the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State.
