University of Biafra existed from 6 July 1967 to 5 January 1970. The former University of Nigeria Nsukka, was renamed University of Biafra at the outbreak of the war.
It had nine faculties, which included medicine, agriculture and engineering. With undergraduate enrolment of nearly 3000. Prof Eni Njoku was the first vice-chancelor of the university.
It was a great institution of higher learning, with a second campus at Enugu.
