Before the Biafra war,Enugu had over 8000 coal miners. As at today,there is no significant coal mining activities in the city. 

This is because of deliberate policy by successive Nigerian governments to subjugate Ndigbo for daring to question the legality of the false and forced unity of Nigeria..
