Expelled Uwazuruike launches another group
The expelled leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has in a surprise move, announced the formation of a new Biafran group.

Uwazuruike announcement the emergence of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) on Sunday while addressing the press in Owerri. According to Uwazurike, the new group became imperative due to the  the bad corporate image some dissidents of MASSOB, was attracting to the group.

“The change in name became absolutely necessary because of the sad introduction of violence by the disgruntled dissidents and this is at variance with the non-violence stance of MASSOB over the years”, Uwazuruike said.

He said that real loyalists of MASSOB feel ashamed to be associated with violence, promising that they will restructure MASSOB to make it the youth wing of the Biafra Independent Movement.

While saying that there is vicarious liability in civil law, Uwazuruike equally recalled how he recruited Nnamdi Kanu in 1989, to head Radio Biafra.

“I recruited Nnamdi Kanu in 1989, when I established Radio Biafra and appointed him the director of the establishment. He started preaching hatred and brainwashing the youths. MASSOB sacked him”, Uwazuruike recalled.

Uwazuruike was recently expelled from MASSOB by the national officers of the group who accused him of betraying the cause and Biafrans. On Monday, November 30, at a ceremony attended by national officers including the zonal and regional administrators of the group, a new leadership of MASSOB was inaugurated.
Uchenna Madu, the group’s former national director of information was made the new acting leader while Ugwuoke Ibem Ugwuoke, emerged as national secretary.

A resolution and communiqué signed by the national officers and administrators at Okwe, MASSOB’s Headquarters, was read by Madu.

The communiqué read: “A vote of no confidence and total rejection has been passed on Ralph Uwazuruike. His inability to sustain and maintain Ojukwu’s dream of Biafra actualization, his deviation into the mainstream of Nigerian politics and using the Biafra struggle to enhance his selfish political ambition in Nigeria are the reasons for our rejection of his association with Biafra struggle.”

The group warned Uwazuruike to stop parading himself as MASSOB leader.

According to Madu, this action was to redeem and revive the lost spirit and confidence of the Biafra revolution in the minds of the people.

Recently, the group issued a warning to Igbo leaders, threatening to take measures if they fail to guide their utterances against the Biafra agitation.
