Onitsha Killings: How IGP Solomon Arase Wasted Blood Of Innocent Picketers To Save His IGPship - Human Rights Groups

The leaderships of the Southeast based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations; comprising the International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety), Anambra State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), the Center for Human Rights & Peace Advocacy (CHRPA), Human Rights Club(HRC) (a project of LRRDC), Southeast Good Governance Forum (SGGF), Forum for Equity, Justice & Defense of Human Rights (FEJDHR), Society Advocacy Watch Project (SPAW), Anambra Human Rights Forum (AHRF), the International Solidarity for Peace & Human Rights Initiative (INTERSOLIDARITY) and the Street Law Africa (LawAfrica) are alarmed, shocked and dismayed over the killing on Wednesday (2^nd December 2015) of peaceful and non violent protesters in various parts of Onitsha particularly along the Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s Gateway at Onitsha Niger Bridge and the Obodoukwu Road in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State; which led to the death of at least ten (10) innocent members of the public and injuring of scores of others.

The prospects of his spending the rest of his life behind International Criminal Court (ICC) has forced the Nigeria's Inspector General of Police to deny the shooting and killing of innocent Biafrans peacefully protesting in Onitsha and Portharcourt. 

In a report titled Gen Buhari, Gen Buratai and IGP Arase are staring at ICC prison!, The Biafran had opined that the IGP, his military counterpart Lt. Gen. Buratai and General Muhammadu Buhari will spend the rest of their lives inside ICC prison for committing internationally recognised crime against humanity. The report stated thus:

In intensifying his crackdown on free speech and right of association, General Muhammadu Buhari has officially ordered the arrest of Biafrans. The order was given through the the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, who ordered an immediate clampdown on Biafrans who he described as persons or group of persons inciting violence and social disorder across the Nigeria.
