The Nigerian Supreme Court on Friday gave reasons while Nyesom Wike was affirmed as the validly elected governor of Rivers. Justice Mohammad Mahmud, who presided, held that the Governorship Electoral Petition Tribunal that handled the case swayed INEC guideline on the use of card readers for the election.

The cold war between General Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmud Mohammed came to a head today. The Supreme court headed by the CJN unanimously declared Nyesom Wike, the winner of the  April 11 governorship election in Rivers State. Buhari and is party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) were desperate to take the oil-rich Rivers State through from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the backdoor.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Saturday cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Muhammadu Buhari to abstain from influencing tribunal judgements in favour of the APC.

Fayose was reacting on Saturday to the tribunal judgement that sacked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the one that ruled for a re-run in Akwa Ibom.

Muhammadu Buhari's regime is assuming the posture of impunity in various angles. The Biafran warned of Buhari's dictatorial tendencies in various articles it published during the election campaign. Since after assuming power, Buhari has carried on with governance just like a dictator would. He has single-handedly ran the government for over a month without any cabinet and apparently micromanaging every aspect of the economy, resulting in an almost comatose economy.

Buhari' impunity reached another level yesterday when he ordered the police to seal off all local government secretariats in Rivers State, following a court order his party deemed not favourable.

Soon after being sworn in as the new governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike informed public that he has appointed Justice Daisy Okocha as the Chief Judge of the state. Wike subsequently  ordered that all the state courts that has been under lock and key be reopened with immediate effect.
