Governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano on Tuesday swore in eight new judges for the state High Court.
Names of the new judges sworn-in in order of their seniority are: Arinze Chidozie Akabua, Teofine Ugochukwu Oguji, Michael Onuzulike Okonkwo, Irene Uzoamaka Ndigwe, Raphael Okechukwu Onunkwo, Dennis Chukwuemeka Maduechesi, David Azubuike Onyefulu and Fidelis Ikechukwu Anikwo.
Speaking shortly after the new judges took oath of office and allegiance, Governor Obiano appeal to judges in the state to give priority attention to cases related to armed robbery and kidnap.
Assuring his administration’s commitment to provide the necessary facilities that would ensure efficiency of judges in dispensing justice, Governor Obiano stated that the government had already constructed eight buildings at the Judges Quarters which cost N400million to accommodate the new judges and had also purchased official vehicles for them.
The governor further stated that his government has commenced construction of three new High Courts and 14 Magistrate courts in the state to ensure faster justice delivery by the courts.
The swearing in of the judges formed part of the high point of the celebration of Governor Obiano’s first anniversary. He was sworn as governor on March 17, 2014.
