The above statement credited to the Nigerian Army is highly hypocritical. This is the same Nigerian Army that has been shooting at unarmed Biafran protesters!
He further claimed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) is established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and therefore guided by law in all its affairs.

The statement by the Nigerian Army is deceitful and self-serving aimed at hoodwinking international community currently mounting pressure on Buhari to stop brutalising and intimidating Biafrans. This same army threatened to deploy fully against peaceful protesting Biafrans and applying Rules of Engagement on non-combatant civilians.
According to the press statement, the COAS claimed that the Nigerian Army has also partnered NHRC and ICRC who visited their detention facilities on regular basis.
He also said that the AFN have recognised the importance and respects the Rule of Law, saying that there is no safe haven for Human Right violators in today's Nigerian Army.

Similarly, Nigerian Bar Association with Nigerian Army inaugurates human rights monitoring team as part of measures to improve human rights protection and abuse by security personnel.
