We do not consider IPOB a terrorist organisation - United States slams Nigerian government
The United States government has slammed the Nigerian government for classifying the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation. The US, speaking through the American Embassy in Nigeria, says it does not consider IPOB a terrorist organisation.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai on Monday evening stated that the Defence Headquarters did not declare the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB a terrorist organization in the country.

A pro- Democracy and Non- Governmental organisation- HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) has warned that the Nigerian Military has increasingly become anti- democratic and assuming legislative powers just as the Rights group said the Defence Headquarters can't exercise a power they don't have picking and choosing when to grade any group a terror organisation.

Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has countered the Nigerian Army over its recent labelling of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorists organisation. While speaking in New York in a heavily-laced diplomatic double-speaking, Onyeama says Nigeria does not require any international help to curtail any threats posed by the IPOB.
