Tuesday’s successful lockdown of the Southeast is indicative of a massive discontent with the Nigerian federation, Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural group warned, yesterday. While the group warned that the issues raised by the lockdown must be addressed in order not to foreclose a negotiated settlement of the Nigerian question, Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, traced the success of the lockdown to what he described as the hypocrisy of the Nigerian elite class and the tribal tendencies of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The attention of Afenifere has been drawn to the statement credited to the vice president of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, that the call for the restructuring of Nigeria would not make any difference.

The vice president in the faux pas also argued that if states are given half of the resources of the federal government it would not make any difference and that all we need is to diversify into agriculture.

Having gained stimulus from renewed Biafran Republic restoration, Yoruba leaders are calling for the secession of Yoruba from Nigeria. Some leaders today in Ibadan warned that the Yoruba will reconsider her membership of the Nigerian federation if the cultural and political marginalization continues unabated. The summit is not impressed by the slogan of renaissance renting the air, saying that the country has merely slid into the firm grip of another self-serving ethnic cabal intent on pinning the country down in her historic state of control my vested interests.

Afenifere condemns Buhari’s style of governance
Afenifere, a socio-political group weekend condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s style of administration saying he is behaving like a dictator.

The group’s Chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti said this in Akure while assessing the President’s actions so far.

“President Buhari is running a one-man show. Let him appoint his cabinet and start serious business,’’ he said.
