A GOOD brother of mine just gave me a copy of Graham Allison’s Destined For War-Can America and China Escape Thucydide’s Trap and it is a very illuminating read. Alison in the great work looked at the challenge a rising China poses to the United States and the possibility of a war between the two being a natural sequence.In an interview with NPR’s Robert Siegel on May 29, Allison described Thucydide’s as “when a rising power threatens to displace a ruling power, one sees inherent structural stress that makes conflict likely.

(Intersociety & SBCHROs, Nigeria: 8^th June 2017)-The present Federal Government of Nigeria and its security forces as well as all elected and appointed public office holders and other key political actors in Southeast Nigeria must proactively and preventively avoid the repetition of the 1966 anti Igbo pogrom in Northern Nigeria in 1966 in which “between 45,000 and 50,000 civilians of former Eastern Nigeria were killed in Northern Nigeria and other parts of Nigeria from May 1966 and December 1967”. The 45,000 to 50,000 citizens that were massacred are dominated by citizens of the Igbo Ethnic Nationality. The pre pogrom panics and its poorly managed early warnings further generated or forced 1.627,743 (one million, six hundred & twenty seven thousand, seven hundred and forty three) Easterners dominated by Igbo citizens residing in different parts of Nigeria to return home or become internally displaced persons. A good number of them crossed int’l borders and became refugees.

The leader of Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT), Prof. Ben Nwabueze, has stated that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is not really demanding secession but agitating for self determination, which he said is an inalienable right of every individual.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) today received the blessings of Nigerian foremost constitutional lawyer, Prof Ben Nwabueze. Kanu paid a courtesy visit to Prof Nwabueze to intimate him on his plans for Biafra.

In return Nwabueze commended him for all his sacrifice to Biafrans and showered blessings on him.

The ultimatum issued on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, after a meeting in Kaduna State by the following  groups:  Arewa Citizens Action for Change, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Arewa Youth Development Foundation, Arewa Students Forum, and the Northern Emancipation Network, asked the Igbo residing in the region to “start making plans to leave.” or else they will face a situation similar to the pre-civil war pogroms visited on their kin in the 1960s.

In 2015, an Igbo Christian, Chukwuma Austin Dike shocked Nigerians and swore to convert to Islam from Christianity if Buhari wins the election and gets sworn in as the President.

While the group warned that the issues raised by the lockdown must be addressed in order not to foreclose a negotiated settlement of the Nigerian question, Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, traced the success of the lockdown to what he described as the hypocrisy of the Nigerian elite class and the tribal tendencies of President Muhammadu Buhari.
