Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Ibe Kachikwu on Monday in Uyo berated the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi over comments by the latter on the establishment of a Nigerian Maritime University, proposed for Okerenkoko in Delta State.

Amaechi while trying to justify the Muhammadu Buhari's Government’s decision to scrap the Nigerian Maritime University told the Senate Committee on Marine Transport that there was no work on the Permanent site of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta state and insisted that what was on ground was “just the feasibility study”.

The move by General Muhammadu Buhari to scrap the Maritime University located in Okerenkoko, Delta State is causing increased level of apprehension in the Niger Delta. It has elicited sharp reactions from the Ijaw leaders in and around the community who think that Rotimi Amaechi who disclosed this is biting more than he can chew.
