Nigeria is dangerously haemorrhaging. We must activate Confederation now before we drift into PERDITION - Dele Momodu

Nigeria is dangerously haemorrhaging. We must activate Confederation now before we drift into PERDITION - Dele Momodu
Dele Momodu, a one time presidential aspirant in Nigeria has advocated for the implementation of true federalism in order to save Nigeria from looming violent breakup. "True federalism" is Nigeria's euphemism of confederation, which General Odimegwu Ojukwu, the first Biafran Head of State, had asked for at a meeting in Aburi, Ghana. Failure of the Gowon's junta to implement the Aburi accord subsequently led to the first Biafra-Nigeria war. With the second Biafra-Nigeria war already happening with the aggressors, Nigerian government, killing unarmed Biafrans across Biafran cities, Momodu is asking Buhari to go back to the archives to seek for wisdom to implement this before is it too late.

Gowon's failure to implement Aburi Accord the cause of Biafra-Nigeria War
At the conclusion of the Aburi meeting (The complete records of the Aburi Meeting - The Official Minutes) agreements were reached by all the parties involved. However, on return to Nigeria, Gowon's government scuttled the Aburi Accord and reneged in almost all the agreements. This non implementation of the Aburi Meeting Accord subsequently led to the Biafra-Nigeria War.

Subsequently, on 24 May, 1966, he promulgated the Decree No. 34 putting into effect the decisions of the Supreme Military Council to establish a centralized administration for the country. Six days later widespread violence and riots broke out in Northern Nigeria. Thousands of Easterners were massacred.
