Do not interrupt political campaigns - IPOB orders members

Do not interrupt political campaigns - IPOB orders members

  • No single members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) should go closer within 100 meters of any Nigeria political campaign
  • Our campaign should run parallel to theirs
  • Order from the highest command of IPOB leadership

Coming on the heels of purported disruption of a political by the Anambra State governor, by alleged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the high IPOB high command has issued an order warning its members to desist from disrupting political campaigns.

Some youths suspected to be members of IPOB were reported to have stormed St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State where Governor Willie Obiano was worshipping and tried to disrupt the service.

This prompted IPOB to issue the order cautioning her members.

"No single members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) should go closer within 100 meters of any Nigeria political campaign, their campaigns should not be interrupted by any member of IPOB Family.

"No Biafran should be seen closer within their campaign in Biafra land and beyond. Allow them to do their campaign while we do ours , at last we shall know between the gospel of light, redemption and freedom and that of salvages, backwardness, death and deceit which will be obeyed by the real owners of the land (Biafrans).

Please this information should be carried out with the most uttermost effect..."

Thank you!

An eyewitness told Vanguard that the governor had hardly settled down in the church when some youths, including women, who adorned Biafra dresses and waving Biafra flags, besieged the gate of the church, chanting Biafra songs and shouting: “No election in Anambra State “,

“We want referendum”, and “No referendum, no election.”

It was gathered that as they forced their way through the gate, the governor’s security men promptly locked up the entrance. However, a member of the governor’s press crew said the governor was not disturbed in any way, adding that despite the presence of the IPOB youths outside the church, he still addressed the congregation towards the end of the service and stayed till the end.

Meanwhile, Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Garba Umar, who confirmed the incident, warned that the police would no longer tolerate such impunity. He, however, said the intention of the protesters was not to attack the governor.
