Deconstructing the communique jointly issued by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Southeast lame duck governors

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is appalled by the shameful, disgraceful, and cowardly joint communique issued by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and a group of lame duck Governors of the five states of part of the old Eastern Region that is unconstitutionally referred to as Southeast. The IPOB learned that the communique was issued after a meeting which held at Nike Lake Resort in Enugu on July 1, 2017. The said communique was presented by Mr. David Nweze Umahi, who ascribed the title of “ENGINEER“ to himself even when in violation of the relevant sections of CAP E11 L.F.N. 2004, considering the fact that his Engineering License Number R25719 is currently invalid and, therefore, he should not officially assign such title to himself.

In the said communique, Ohanaeze and the lameduck governors affirmed their support for a united Nigeria, a British-created contraption. They craved for an egalitarian and a Utopian society within the context of social and ethno-religious equity in Nigeria but they forgot that Nigeria is a ranking member of the Organization of Islamic Countries (O.I.C.) which contradicts Section-10 of the Abdulsalami Abubakar-written fraudulent constitution of Nigeria.

In the same communique, the group displayed cowardice by being vague or evasive on who issued hate speeches and quit notice to Biafrans in the Northern areas of Nigeria. The most surprising of all in the communique, was their display of ignorance of the fact that their plea for restructuring is dead on arrival because of the stringent and pro-North conditions stipulated in Section-9 of the constitution upon which any successful restructuring must be anchored. We strongly advice those who are clamouring for restructuring to go and read Section-9 of the constitution and carry out simple computation of two-thirds of number of state houses of assembly, members of senate, and members of house of representatives. 

The DOS will not go into other aspects of the communique which include their aspiration to be the “go-to“ groups for all Biafrans within the Igbo-speaking areas of Biafraland. We want to state that this is pure wishful thinking considering the fact that some of those who attended the meeting have been ministers and some are serving governors, yet they have nothing to show for all the years they enjoyed their political positions. Rather, all they do is gloat about their former or current political positions without indicating any landmark project they initiated or completed.

The DOS wishes to put it on record that Ohanaeze is purely an ethnic-based voluntary socio-cultural organization restricted to only the Igbo-speaking people of the old Eastern Region of Nigeria. Similarly, the lameduck Governors of the unconstitutional Southeast oversee only some Igbo-speaking areas of the old Eastern Region. On the contrary, the nation of Biafra covers 10 states that were carved out of the old Eastern and Midwestern Regions with the addition of Biafran communities in Edo, Benue, and Kogi states.

The IPOB hereby advises Biafrans to disregard and discountenance the cowardly-written communique because both Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the lame duck Governors do not, in any imaginable way, represent the thoughts and views of the entire Biafrans nor do they even cover the footprints of Biafraland. For the avoidance of doubts, the Igbo-speaking area is only a part of the entire nation of Biafra. What Biafrans are going after is the sovereignty or independence of the nation of Biafra and not just a portion of Biafra designated as Igbo-speaking area.

The IPOB hereby assures that Biafrans shall approach the United Nations to mandate and supervise a referendum that will usher in the sovereign nation of Biafra. Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the lameduck Governors of the unconstitutional Southeast can issue a thousand communique or claim to be unapproved representatives of Biafrans but at the end, the people of Biafra shall have the final say.

As always, we reiterate that the restoration of the nation of Biafra is a divine project whose time has come and is, therefore, unstoppable, unquenchable, irreversible, and irrevocable.

Long live Biafrans and long live the nation of Biafra!!!
