Anambra Election Boycott: Nnamdi Azikiwe also called for the BOYCOTT of Elections in Eastern Region in 1964. Not a Criminal offence

Anambra Election Boycott: Nnamdi Azikiwe also called for the BOYCOTT of Elections in Eastern Region in 1964
The call by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the boycott of the November, 2017 election, has generated a wide ranging sense of emotions from supporters and traducers.  While the call had gained traction among Biafran, especially the younger generation, the Nigerian police has almost criminalised it and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), the purported Igbo party, has come out to heavily criticise IT. Fearful Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, has also condemned the call and suggesting that the leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu may be biting more than he can chew.

Photo of the day:Looking back to the past with time-frozen Zik's campaign podium

This classic picture told a lot between modern day politics and those of the past. In the picture above taken in 1956 when the various composing nationalities in Nigeria were passing through a crucial stage, well-dressed Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe (Zik) could be seen supported on a table by two poorly individuals.

How Sarduana infiltrated the Eastern Region with Umaru Altine - The first Mayor of Enugu (Part 1)

How Sarduana infiltrated the Eastern Region with Umaru Altine - The first Mayor of Enugu (Part 1)
The Hausa-Fulani has for a long time longed to infiltrate Biafra. A classical case of infiltration was that perpetrated by Ahmadu Bello the Sarduana in 1952. As a result of the Richard's and MacPherson's constitution of 1946 and 1951 respectively, Nigeria was essentially divided into 3 regions. Two out of the three political parties were ethno-nationalistically oriented - the Northern Region had the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC) and the Western Region had the Action Group (AG). The only party that came close to having countrywide flavour was the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), which was a merger between the Herbert Marcualy-led Nigerian National Democratic Party and the Nigerian Youth Movement. The NCNC as a result of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe's involvement with the party, it had a stronghold in the Eastern and Western Region.
