Sokoto State government has sponsored no fewer than 143 indigenous students to undergo training as jihadists in various universities, in Islamic hotbed countries, under the guise of obtaining degree programmes overseas.
The institutions approved for the students include, International Islamic University Chithangang, Bangladesh, International Islamic University, Khartoum, in Republic of Sudan and Abdou Moumouni University, Niamey, in Niger Republic, whose students and faculty have historically been involved in protest movements in the Niger capital.
