Russia yesterday struck eight Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria, the country’s Defense Ministry said, adding that "civilian infrastructure" was avoided during the operations.

“Today, Russian aerospace force jets delivered pinpoint strikes on eight ISIS terror group targets in Syria. In total, 20 flights were made,” spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said.

Amidst the ongoing rumbling over the Falklands Island, Russia and Argentina today signed several strategic energy and trade cooperation deals. The deal signed in Moscow on Thursday, underlines Moscow's drive to deepen ties with countries in South America since coming under Western sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.
At a ceremony in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Argentine President Cristina Fernandez hailed the agreements, which pave the way for closer cooperation on natural gas and nuclear energy in Argentina.

Announcing this, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said, the "Spearhead Force would be made up of several thousand land troops ready to deploy within a few days. The troops would be backed by air, sea and special forces support, he said, with a command and control center and extra equipment in Eastern Europe."

A team of Russian virologists, epidemiologists and bacteriologists is leaving for Africa to organize laboratory diagnosis of the Ebola virus in Guinea, where the outbreak of the deadly fever is spreading fast.

Russia’s consumer watchdog Rospotrbnadzor is dispatching a mobile laboratory to Guinea to help contain the Ebola hemorrhagic fever virus in response to a direct request from Guinea’s government.

The cargo jet to Guinea’s capital Conakry leaves from Moscow’s Ramenskoye airfield on Thursday evening.
