General Phillip Effiong was Biafra Republic second Head of State. The Akwa Ibom-born General Effiong, was General Odimegwu Ojukwu's deputy, and took over towards the end of the war, when Ojukwu was persuaded to leave Biafra.

Dr Effiong, who lectures at the Maryland University in the United States, in this video spoke about his experience of the Biafra-Nigeria War.

Not much is usually heard of Biafra’s finest soldiers such as Colonel Timothy Onwuatuegwu, General Alex Madiebo, Colonel Chude Sokei, Major Mathias Nwadiegwu, Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, Major Archibong, Major Okoi, Major Atumaka, Captain Dokubo and others. The Nigerian government has been doing everything possible to write them out of history and rather prefer to highlight the war time 'roles' of Biafran soldiers who sabotaged their compatriots.
