Boko Haram: Biafrans paralyse commercial activities in Eastern Nigeria

Irked by Nigeria's Government’s seeming unwillingness to relocate suspected Boko Haram prisoners from Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Council, Anambra State, despite street protests, Biafran traders under the aegis of the South East Markets Traders Amalgamated Associations (SEMATAS), on Thursday, paralysed commercial activities in the Eastern Nigeria region. The traders demanded that the prisoners be moved of the prisoners to their original base.

Biafra is engulfed in protest and soldiers have been deployed in strategic locations. Few days after Anambra-based traders under the auspices of Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association (AMATAS) shut down all markets in the state to protest the widely-believed relocation of Boko Haram convicts to Ekwulobia Prison, traders from the entire Biafra has showed solidarity to the cause by staging a 7-hour protest in Ekwulobia, to demand that the prisoners be moved back to the North.
