Nigeria’s army chief, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai "The Butcher" is being accused of corrupt enrichment following revelations that he acquired two choice houses in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and a multi-billion naira farm in Nigeria. Buratai claims Boko Haram is behind the story, while the Muhammadu Buhari government has “investigated and cleared him in what appears to be a record 24 hours. The federal government blames unpatriotic elements for the story which first appeared on Sahara Reporters, a citizens reporter website which has also been dubbed the “mouthpiece of the APC”.
