How N5 billion Imo State bailout money disappeared from Rochas Okorocha's THIEVING in law's BEDROOM |
The money is suspected to be part of the Imo State bail-out funds exclusively sourced to pay arrears of workers' salaries.
According to sources, the money which comprised $4million, 3.1 million pound and more than N3 billion stashed in Nwosu’s room. Unconfirmed source alleges that on the said day the Beninois cook made away with the N5billion, the security operatives at the gate were served a meal of indomie, after which they reportedly dozed off.
Investigation by Societynowng revealed that the cook took advantage of Uche Nwosu’s trip abroad and swooped on the money kept in metal safe in the governor’s son-in-law’s room.
A police source also disclosed to 247ureports.com that when the state commissioner of police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu visited the residence of the Chief of Staff at Civic Centre, a high brow area meant for only the super rich in the state, he discovered to his chagrin that high intensity equipment was used to break the room and the safe.
As a result of this, the police boss was said to have ordered the arrest of all security details, including the policemen and men of the DSS.
Already, the chief of staff has since denied that money was missing from his house, saying that his house is not a bank where money is kept.
Meanwhile, in the face of the controversy and denials by Imo state government over
the loss of the billions to the Togolese cook, an Owerri based lawyer, Barr. Kingdom
Okere has averred that the said amount is missing, adding that three security operatives have been arrested and detained over the allegation.
Barr. Okere asserted that a police officer, Mr Gift Udenwoke and two others have been detained by the police for about a week pending when they give useful information on the whereabouts of the Togolese cook allegedly bolted away with the said money from the bedroom of the Chief of Staff’s official residence.

The lawyer disclosed that one Inspector Casmir of the Criminal Investigation department, D4 of the Imo state Police Command is the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, handling the case.
According to him, his client Gift Udenwoke serving at the New Owerri Police Station was seconded as a security operative to the private residence of the Chief of Staff, and has been in the police cell for about a week over the money carted away by the Togolese cook engaged by Hon. Nwosu.
Barr, Okere, the Director of a Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Kingdom Human Rights Foundation Int’l argued that Gift cannot be linked to the runaway Togolese domestic staff.
The activist lawyer submitted that the Imo state government has taken Ndi Imo for granted on several issues bordering on mismanaging the state resources and converting same to family benefit.
In his words “Gift was stationed at the gate, to ward off invaders from gaining entrance into the said house of the COS, therefore cannot gain entrance into the bedroom of the Chief of Staff, insisting that there is no reason for him to be detained for an offence which he did not commit.
The NGO boss queried, why must Hon. Nwosu’s bedroom “be a bank where the bailout fund meant for suffering Imo workers be kept , if not for the purpose of reportedly diverting same which is now said to be missing, one wonders if a committee needs to be constituted to pay workers who are being owed arrears of salaries because of man-made economic problem that has made Imo a debtor State”.
He alleged that police authorities have threatened to dismiss Gift from the Nigeria Police Force for involving a human rights lawyer in the matter, saying if it happens, they will explore all legal options to address any injustice and anomaly.
Barr. Okere warned that if his client, Gift is not released in the shortest time and apologize to him, shall petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practice and other related crimes Commission, ICPC, and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the
missing Imo bailout fund, as well as institute a law suit.
It is recalled that a huge sum of money in foreign denomination was allegedly stolen from the office of the first lady following which the Police orderlies attached to her were detained, sometime ago.
Meanwhile, the workers of the Imo State House of Assembly, Imo Water Board, the judiciary, health workers have since embarked on indefinite strike following non-payment of seven months arrears of salaries. This is even as pensions have resigned to fate following the 22 months arrears of pension owed them by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Uche Nwosu has been described as greedy and corrupt shark, with money-grabbing ambition towering over that of his father in-law. Nwosu is suffering from the wealth and property-grabbing instincts and inclination of his Rochas Okorocha. Nwosu, served as the immediate past Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning soon after marrying Okorocha's daughter.
Community Watchdog reports that Nwosu has concluded arrangements to open a Shopping Mall, named the House of Freeda that boasts of the most expensive costume, jewelries and sundries for his wife, Ulomma Okorocha.
The massive Shopping Complex, is located along the MCC-Uratta Road Owerri and has bill boards erected all over Owerri Municipal Council and beyond announcing that its arrival, will be with a bang that will certainly after present economic equation.
Uche Nwosu was seen on August 3rd, 2015, supervising the extensive off loading of more than 5 heavy duty haulage trucks of containers of goods at the wee hours of the night. The operation was clandestinely executed at that late hour to avoid a gossiping publicity that could send the right signals that while Imo people are been pauperized and impoverished by his father-in-law who believes more in “my family! my family” governance, he is busy displaying monumental investment that can only be possible for only those who engage in blind looting and fleecing of public funds.
At press time, the access road into the opulence called “House of Freeda” has been completely tarred while extensive high profile decorations and beautifications are going on. Goods imported from Singapore, Houston, Turkey and Malaysia are already on display and shelved just to compete with the yet to be commissioned Shoprite along Egbu Road, Owerri. House of Freeda promises to provide the best one stop shop east of the Niger and further improve tourism Owerri.
A source very close to Nwosu, the petit ex student of Imo State University, said to be a gold-digger, with Midas touch explains that he is determined to rubbish the father in-law's crave for unending wealth acquisition and riches. He is said to have decided to establish the world class “Freeda House” Shopping Mall for the wife to compliment the shopping complex owned by Ogechi, the Governors sister among others.
Though many are of the opinion that the timing is a slap on the sensibilities of Imo workers who are seething with anger over unpaid salaries in the midst of stupendous acquisition of wealth by those, who only four years ago, were living on charity and feeding from hand to mouth, others are of the view that the opening of glamour giant called House of Freeda, will eventually de-congest Ekeukwu Owerri since the new MCC/ Uratta Road Owerri Malls will certainly force prices of goods and services down since they are direct importers and manufacturers representatives not only in Owerri but in the entire Nigeria. The coming of House of Freeda is a direct outcome of Okorocha as romance with wealth and pomp.
Uche Nwosu apart from sitting atop thousands of certificate of occupancy is known to have authorized the allocation of lands in Owerri and environs which more than any other commissioner in the history of Nigeria. Whereas his predecessor Nze Ogueri Enwerem was not given any opportunity to either constitute a Land Use and Allocation Committee (LUAC) or effect the allocation of land at New Market and Nworie North Layouts for which each of the applicants is responsible to a widely published advertorial for the allocation of government lands, paid a non-refundable fee of N25, 000 and also denied powers to sign Certificate of Occupancy (CFO), Uche Nwosu was granted a blank cheque even as Personal Assistant (PA) to Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha to supervise the Commissioner and Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Planning.
Hence as soon as he took over the saddle, as was initially crafted, he acted like the defector lord of the manor with powers to revoke, revalidate, re-allocate, reclaim and authorize certificates of occupancy. The Imo Geographic Information Agency (IGIA) initiated by Ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim and Surveyor Oguike was reserved for his resuscitation with staff already recruited by Nze Ogueri Enwerem, sacked and placed under lock and keys. It was not therefore surprising that even before assuming office as substantive Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Town Planner Uche Nwosu, was already signing C of Os in the Executive Office of the Governor. This therefore can easily explain why Uche Nwosu, is among the richest Nigerians today, by association.
Apart from land grabbing, Uche Nwosu was reported as having his hands in several other pies. He was engaged in the rehabilitation of several roads at Ikenegbu, Chukwuma Nwoha and Federal Housing Estate Egbu with grossly inefficient and inexperienced personnel, led by the present Chairman Imo State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation. They simply patched up the roads and pocketed millions of naira. Of course Chike Okafor of Christ Embassy fame was available to authorize instant payments and release of such funds. After all both were at Imo State University together and were ready to exhibit what they were taught at Lake Nwebere on selfish service, and fast living which is the bare of our youth today.
Presently, Uche Nwosu is squaring up with Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka on who will get the contract of N350 million being dangled by Addax Oil Company for the perimeter fencing of Izombe General Hospital now Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Annex. While Nwosu has handpicked Victor Nwanwa as youth leader of the oil rich community, Amuka is alleged to be insisting on the extension of tenure of the alleged ex-convicts who would elicit his chances of securing the contract. Nwosu is not happy that Amuka has so far cornered all the environmental sanitation contracts and supervision of all motor parks in Imo State. He is set to clash with Uche Nwosu over the N350million contract to fence the abandoned hospital.
