| Deconstructing Mbaka's Naira and Kobo MENATALITY |
Judging from latest outburst of Rev Fr Camillus Ejike Mbaka against Biafran youths, it has become obvious that he is one of the few set of Igbo men who believe that everything revolves around money.
To such men, it is either money or nothing. Everything is viewed through monetary lens. To such men, dignity, integrity and values pales in the presence of money.
The are flippant with words depending who pays the piper. Mbaka who used to be a well respected priest in Enugu appears for the past couple of months to speak for who pays him the highest.
Mbaka was reported to have criticised Biafrans who have embarked on the massive peaceful protests to demand the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been held in detention by the Muhammadu Buhari government despite having been granted bail by the court. It was reported that Mbaka described the Biafran protest as evil.
According to the report Mbaka urged the Biafran youths to go back to their business as the protest could lead to their death. He was reported to have lambasted those leaders that were behind the agitation and protests, saying that they should use their children for the struggle.
“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,’’ Mbaka opined on Saturday in a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry in Enugu.
He lambasted IPOB leaders that were behind the protests, saying that they should use their children for the struggle.
Mbaka rather commended General Muhammadu Buhari for appointing ministers from the Southeast and assigning them with 'good portfolios'.
“President Buhari’s action has proven that the Southeast has not been marginalized. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,’’ he said.
He said that the five states in the zone had minister each as prescribed by the Nigerian constitution as well as other key security and protocol officers that serves under president and his wife.
Mbaka stated that the recent free health screening initiative by the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, in Enugu to her love for the people of the region.
He further blamed Igbo leaders for not living up to the expectation of the people in the area, adding that past governors, National Assembly members failed woefully in discharging their mandates.
“President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads, unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the south east, we should blame our leaders.
“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the fund, even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it,” he said.
Mbaka called on the new Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, to use his office to employ youths in the zone, adding that it would stop what he called another Boko Haram in the south east if not curtailed.

He praised Buhari’s war against corruption, saying it had enthroned due process and sanity in governance.
Mbaka had no shame in supporting Buhari who is holding Nnamdi Kanu the leader of the IPOB in illegal detention. Kanu has received bail from a court in Nigeria and has fulfilled all the bail conditions, yet Buhari's secret police the Directorate of the State Security (DSS) are flagrantly disobeying the constitution.
Mbaka has never condemned Fulani herdsmen invasion in Enugu State, his home state. He is scared to criticise the destruction of lives, crops and rape of women of Enugu State by these Fulani terrorists.
But very quick to condemn Biafran youths protesting against injustice, oppression, subjugation and demanding for freedom. Mbaka wants the youths to remain in shanty shops while their counterparts in other parts of Nigeria are wallowing in collective riches and flamboyant wealth.
The Buhari Mbaka is supporting, is the same Buhari that stated that an attack on Boko Haram terrorists was an attack on Nigeria.

It is not surprising that Mbaka made the declaration soon after General Muhammadu Buhari's wife paid him a 'courtesy' visit. Recall that Mbaka praised President Goodluck Jonathan to high heavens when, his wife Patience Jonathan paid such courtesy visit and handed Mbaka N5million naira.

While receiving Mrs Jonathan and her entourage at the Adoration Ground in Enugu during the church's harvest celebration, Mbaka called on Ndigbo to vote for President Jonathan in the 2015 presidential elections.
Fr. Mbaka, stated that those fighting Jonathan would meet their down fall, saying that greatness comes from God and that the All Progressives Congress (APC) posed no threat to her husband in Enugu, because Enugu people know that the APC is a Boko Haram party.
Insisting that Jonathan must be re-elected for a second tenure, Mbaka berated those saying that the President must bring back the Chibok girls if he must seek re-election.
“I want to ask those saying that Jonathan must bring back the Chibok girls. Is Jonathan holding the Chibok Girls? When you, First Lady met with Borno women, you said there is God oh!
“Jonathan is not a kidnapper. We are giving you our support. You have done a lot for this country. You have done it with distractions. We wonder what you will do without distractions. We know what you will do. Adoration will support you and your husband”, Mbaka said.
Mbaka was soon to switch sides as soon as greater money exchanged hands. Barely few months after endorsing Jonathan for presidency, Mbaka called on his followers to vote out Jonathan as he has transmuted from being Goodluck to Badluck. In the controversy that followed the pronouncement, it was alleged that Mbaka received almost N800 million naira from the APC.
The real reason behind Rev Father Ejike Mbaka’s denouncement of President Jonathan subsequently emerged. Mbaka, who according to him used to be an ardent fan of President Jonathan on his New Year message to his congregation berated President Jonathan and asked him to ‘honourably resign’ in other to invariably pave way for the emergence of Islamic Jihadist General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

The Biafran gathered that Mbaka may have been disenchanted with President Jonathan as an aftermath of a visit the president’s wife paid him. Mbaka’s hope for open access to the president, which was rebuffed by the First Lady, angered him. According to the Sun, Mbaka stated during a sermon at the Christ the King Catholic Parish GRA, Enugu that he requested severally for the contact number of the First Lady, but was ignored. He was rather given the contact number of a pastor with Mrs Jonathan. To rub insult to injury, after the visit, Mbaka tried severally to contact the First Lady via the number and was getting only an underling. It appears that possible monetary reward promised Mbaka that was not fulfilled had helped swell Mbaka’s anger on the President. In Mbaka’s words: “When she came here, I told her to give me her number so that I could give her messages, but thrice she refused. It was later she told one of the pastors with her to give me his number.
“So, before that message, I had called the number for two weeks but it was always the Personal Assistant to the pastor that picked the calls.”
Meanwhile, Leadership Newspaper reported that a high-powered delegation of the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), paid Mbaka a visit on the 31st of December few hours before his New Year message. The Leadership may be alluding to a strong rumour making rounds on social media that Mbaka received a monetary donation of almost a billion naira from the APC. The rumour, which The Biafran is making necessary efforts to confirm, alleges that Senator Chris Ngige, APC’s arrowhead in the Southeast and a close friend of Ngige paid Reverend Father Mbaka eight hundred and fifty million Naira (N850million) to join APC campaign team. The money was raised by Buhari’s ‘banker’, the River State governor, Rotimi Amaechi. The idea of bribing the Catholic priest was brought up by El-rufai and Buhari, and Amaechi volunteered to make the funds available. This rumour may be credible because the only thing that seem to have changed between November, 2014 when Mbaka endorsed Jonathan and January 1st 2015, would probably be an 'intervention' from the APC.
Mbaka denied not having met Buhari in person before but he declined to deny not meeting with APC delegates. "They said Buhari gave me money, but I have never met with Buhari. I don’t know him in person. I only delivered the message I was given and I stand by that message because the future of this country is bleak with Jonathan on the saddle." Perhaps we need to find out who gave him the message he delivered.
The Biafra earlier reported that Buhari has set aside a N20 billion slush fund to bribe Igbo 'leaders', clergies, politicians, and media houses to castigate Biafra Restoration.
Unfortunately for Mbaka and co, the IPOB has raised a new crop of Biafrans whose consciousness has been raised above rudimentary issues such as money or the fear of death. These Biafrans are guided by iron-cast values, dignity and integrity that towers above the naira and kobo mentality.
What is more, is the fact these new crop of Biafrans have set their eyes only on freedom and the restoration of Biafra Republic.
