| Biafra is greater than MONEY - IPOB blasts Father Mbaka |
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have lambasted Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka, over a recent comment credited to him, condemning the ongoing protests raging across Biafra. IPOB denounced Mbaka as a compromised priest speaking from both sides of his mouth.
Mbaka was reported to have criticised Biafrans who have embarked on the massive peaceful protests to demand the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been held in detention by the Muhammadu Buhari government despite having been granted bail by the court.
According to the report published on the Bola Tinubu-owned Nation Newspaper, Mbaka made the condemnation in Enugu on Saturday in a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry.
Mbaka urged the Biafran youths to go back to their business as the protest could lead to their death. He was reported to have lambasted those leaders that were behind the agitation and protests, saying that they should use their children for the struggle.
“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,’’ Mbaka opined.
However, responding to him, during the evening broadcast of Radio Biafra, monitored by The Biafran, the deputy leader of the IPOB, Uche Mefor admonished Mbaka for speaking out of turn. He reminded Mbaka that "Biafra is more than money!".
Mefor stated that the Biafran youths were protesting over injustice, oppression, and subjugation, which is motivating them to seek their freedom. He wondered why Mbaka who is a priest could not fathom the courage to condemn Nigeria government's extra judicial detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the IPOB which stimulated the protests.
IPOB stated that Biafran youths have seen the truth having been enlightened on the need to restore Biafra, and level of cajoling, coercion, intimidation can stop Biafran youths from demanding their rights.
Mefor who expressed shock at Mbaka over the report urged him to refute it immediately if he has been misquoted.
