War rages in Damboa: Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram breaks CEASEFIRE
Despite the self-acclaimed ceasefire between Nigerian forces and Boko Haram, war is raging in Borno State. Boko Haram terrorists made attempt to retake Damboa, Borno State late Sunday night, but were repelled by Nigerian forces. Damboa had been captured by Boko Haram mid July and Boko Haram hoisted their flag declaring it a part of their caliphate. They were however chased out after a deadly gun battle in which several soldiers and a Lieutenant Colonel were killed. The Will reports that about 25 Boko Haram jihadists were killed in the battle. Damboa lying 85km away from Maiduguri, and bordering the Sambisa forest, Boko Haram's largest training camp, is a key strategic town for Boko Haram's planned invasion of Borno State.
