What Jonathan has done for the North

President Goodluck Jonathan, during his campaign in Sokoto described those calling him enemy of the North, as liars who have nothing to offer the region. He used the opportunity to outline all his administration has done for the north, suggesting he has focused more on the north, while depriving the south of same opportunity.

The ingredients for the unsavoury broth being prepared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Jonathan are slowly being gathered. A day after Governor Raji Fashola openly rubbished Jonathan's administration and his counterpart flew to London to lambaste Jonathan before the international community from the BBC, the APC made their boldest statement of not regarding the government of Jonathan. The party instructed her governors and their top presidential contender Muhamadu Buhari to shun the Council of State meeting.

President Goodluck Jonathan last week inadvertently made a very strong case for the emergence of Biafra. In his speech to a congregation of Igbos during this year's World Igbo Congress in the United States, President Goodluck Jonathan confirmed that Igbos have been treated as second class citizens of Nigeria by past governments of Nigeria. He however boasted his administration had tried to remedy the situation by appointing Igbos to positions they have previously not held before in the country.
