Okorocha set to use N600M to Decorate Imo State for Christmas as workers and pensioners die in PENURY |
Despite owing workers and pensioners of 13 months salary and pension allowances, the greedy Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, wants to embark on a grandiose project of decorating the state capital with a whooping N600 million. This pompous and high insensitive project, is planned to be implemented amidst excruciating poverty. This has prompted the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, to express his shock over the media reports that Imo State government has earmarked over N600 million for Christmas and New Year decorations in the state. According to a press statement by his media aide, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu, the former Deputy Speaker questioned why Imo should spend such huge sums at a time the citizenry are going through untold hardship arising from over 20 months of unpaid salary arrears and pensions.
