For effectively fighting Boko Haram terrorists, the Amnesty International has called for the investigation of the Nigerian military, including the former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, and senior military commanders, for allegedly participating in, allegedly sanctioning or failing to prevent the deaths of more than 8,000 people murdered, starved, suffocated, and tortured to death.

Immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika has sued Australian hostage negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis for accusing him of sponsoring the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
In a libel suit filed at the Abuja High Court, the former army chief is demanding N100 billion as aggravated damages for defamation.

The controversial and self-appointed negotiator Dr. Stephen Davis over the weekend dramatically recanted his earlier stance that General Ihejirika and former governor Ali Modu Sheriff were some of the sponsors of Boko Haram. Speaking to Vanguard, the Australian-born mercenary rather stated that Sheriff was on top of the wanted list of Boko Haram, for his role in the killing of the Boko Haram former leader Mohammed Yusuf.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing on Sunday threatened to label the All Progressives Congress an ‘anti-Igbo political party’  if it fails to apologise to former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, within 48 hours.
The threat, which the Ohanaeze Youth Wing issued in a statement jointly signed by its National Secretary, Emmanuel Nnabuike, and Publicity Secretary, Obinna Adibe, followed the APC’s demand for Iherjika’s prosecution over alleged sponsorship of the Boko Haram sect.
The APC demanded Ijejirika’s prosecution in the wake of claims made by Australian negotiator, Mr. Stephen Davies.

The former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd), who was recently accused by Australian negotiator, Stephen Davies of being one of the sponsors of Boko Haram yesterday warned stakeholders not to be deceived by what he described as frivolous and baseless accusations aimed at diverting attention from the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts.

Speaking during the  meeting of the Alumni Association of members of Regular Course 18 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), at the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, Ihejirika said the claims by the Australian that the insurgents mentioned him and a former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherrif, among the chief sponsors of Boko Haram terrorists was unfounded.

The Nigerian government has rubbished devious attempts by Hausa-Fulani domination zealots epitomized by Nasir El-Rufai to vilify Nigeria's former Chief of Army Staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika, over frivolous and unfounded comments by a self-proclaimed Australian Negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis, who alleged that Ihejirika was a sponsor of Boko Haram.

The Nigerian government over the weekend disclosed that it did not have any plan to prosecuting any Nigerian for now based on the various allegations made by Davis. The government also denied hiring Stephen Davis, saying that it was not clear yet on his alleged status, as acting as a Boko Haram negotiator on its behalf.

Former Chief of Army Staff, General Onyeabor Azubuike Ihejirika , who brought Boko Haram to its knees before his retirement, Thursday, opened a can of worms by declaring that the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory and APC chieftain, Mallam Nasir El-Rufia is one of the commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking with Vanguard over allegation by the former minister that he (Ihejirika) and former Governor Modu Sheriff of Borno State were fingered as terrorists sponsors, General Ihejirika said he is not surprised that this unimaginable allegation is coming from ‘one of the Boko Haram Commanders’.
