Happening Now! SGF Appoinment and Probe: Furious Amaechi jets out of Nigeria to avoid probe and insults

The embattled former governor of Rivers State has been reported to have jetted out of Nigeria to avoid insult and on going probe of 8 year reign in Rivers State. Urhobo Today reports that Rotimi Amaechi is also very furious with General Muhammadu Buhari, who denied him the position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), which he has been eyeing.

Thursday’s appointments by General Muhammadu Buhari have continued to elicit reactions from members of Buhari's party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), who feel slighted by Buhari's increasing Northernisation of the party.

According to Urhobo Today, Amaechi, was initially penciled down to become the SGF, for immensely funding Buhari's campaign with looted funds from Rivers State treasury.

The former governor is still in shock for losing out to a less known name, Babachir David Lawal.

The governor was said to have jetted out of the country immediately the announcement was made.

Amaechi insisted he would not accept anything less than SGF after being governor twice.

Sources said Buhari had assured the former governor that he would be named the new SGF.

The former governor was two weeks ago screened by the Department of Security Services (DSS) for the position.

Amaechi furious with "The General"

Shortly after the screening, a dinner was organized in his honor in Port Harcourt.

It was gathered that shortly after the dinner, Amaechi's successor, Gov. Nyesom Wike forwarded a damning preliminary report of Amaechi’s stewardship to Buhari.

It believed that the report that made Buhari change his mind on appointing Amaechi as the SGF as he begins to dissociate himself from Amaechi.

The main reason Amaechi may have flied out of Nigeria was to avoid facing the Rivers State Probe Panel. He has continued to shun invitation to appear before the judicial commission of inquiry probing his administration’s sale of valued public assets and other related matters.
