Assassination, accident or suicide? How Dr Offia Nwali's body was recovered |
Dr Offia Nwali evoked mixed feelings and controversy while living and in death. Nwali made history in the early 1970s when he became the first black man to obtain PhD in computer and analytical studies from Harvard University, United States of America. In the mid 1970s Nwali as the chairman of school board the then East Central State, under Ukpabi Asika, made history when he played pivotal role in the takeover of missionary schools across Biafra by the government. He incurred the wrath of many Christians. In 1983, Dr Nwali's name was also on the lips of many, when his entire family perished in one of the deadliest plane crashes at the Enugu Airport. And now in 2016, Dr Nwali exited the earth in another controversial way, with his corpse found floating in a pond behind his house. Was he killed? Did he commit suicide? Or it was an unfortunate accident?
