Abubakar Shekau, the blood-thirsty leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group has in a new video flayed the rumour of of his death. Shekau denied he had been killed or ousted as chief of the jihadist group in an audio recording released Sunday attributed to him by security experts. This draws attention to Northern Nigeria journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who earlier today preempted the release of this pronouncement.

Chad’s President Idriss Deby declared Tuesday that efforts to combat neighbouring Nigeria’s Boko Haram jihadists had succeeded in “decapitating” the group and would be wrapped up “by the end of the year”.
