Nigeria won’t make progress without restructuring –Ekwueme, Adebanjo
His incarceration in 1984 at Kirikiri prisons following the military coup which aborted the second republic gave him time to think about Nigeria. It was a blessing in disguise as he came out of prison with the idea of six geo-political zonal structures, which he canvassed in the 1994 constitutional conference. It later became a convention, and has taken care of minorities in the South and Northern parts of the country.

Ekwueme, Clark, Okurounmu and others ask Jega to resign over ethnically-biased polling units
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Atahiru Jega has been asked to resign for nursing ethnic agenda that would favour his native north in the planned Nigeria's 2015 general elections.

The leadership of the Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly (SNPA), led by former Vice President, Dr Alex Ekwueme; a former Federal Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark; and Senator Femi Okurounmu, asked Prof. Jega, to resign from office with immediate effect.
