Where is Bright Chimezie? Release him now dead or alive - IPOB charges the DSS

Where is Bright Chimezie? Release him now dead or alive - IPOB charges the DSS
It is almost two weeks since an Uyo court ordered the release of Bright Chimezie a Biafran activists., yet the Director of State Security Services (DSS) is yet to comply to the order. This has fuelled  fears that Bright Chimezie may have been killed by DSS agents.

The court delivered the judgement following a suit filed on behalf of Bright Chimezie against the Gestapo outfit, the State Security Services. The judge ordered the State Security Service to release Bright Chimezie immediately. The court also held illegal, unconstitutional and a gross violation of Bright Chimezie's constitutional guaranteed rights to freedom of liberty, dignity of human person, presumption of innocence and freedom of movement, his arrest since the 14th of October, 2016 and continued detention till date.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has thus demanded that the Director of State Security Services (SSS), in Akwa Ibom state must release the dead body of Bright Chimezie to IPOB and his immediate family so that he will be interred in the proper Biafran culture and tradition. Recall that the agents of DSS kidnapped Bright Chimezie, an IPOB official, on the 16th of September, 2016 at Uyo in Akwa Ibom state under the instructions of the then state Director, Mr. Ayodele Adesina. A sympathetic DSS agent informed IPOB that Mr. Adesina ordered his men to fire live bullets at Bright Chimezie which they did resulting in the fracturing of both legs and he was left to bleed profusely without medical treatment.

Mr. Ayodele Adesina later flew a kite through some brown-envelope journalist to the effect that Mr. Chimezie has been transferred to DSS headquarters in Abuja. This motivated the IPOB legal team to file a lawsuit for his release but was told at Abuja Federal High court that the proper place to file the case would be at Uyo because Mr. Chimezie was still at the DSS detention center in Uyo. The IPOB legal team filed a lawsuit at Federal High court in Uyo demanding that Mr. Chimezie be brought to court but the DSS ignored the court summons. Consequently, the court ruled on the 27th of May 2017 that Bright Chimezie be released unconditionally. Till date, the DSS has not obeyed that court order simply because they have already extra-judicially executed Mr. Bright Chimezie.

The IPOB hereby calls on the Akwa Ibom state Director of DSS to release the dead body of Mr. Bright Chimezie so that he can be given proper burial since the case can no longer proceed because the person in question is dead and cannot be cross-examined in the court nor jailed if found guilty. There is no benefit derivable in keeping the dead body of Bright Chimezie, unless the DSS intend to use it for other illegal purposes.

The DSS must release Bright Chimezie’s corpse to IPOB and his immediate family now!!!
