The death toll rises in Angola as soldiers and rebels clashing in the oil-producing Cabinda region

Soldiers and rebels are clashing again in Angola's oil-producing Cabinda enclave, according to Reuters.

The Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), a separatist guerrilla group, wants independence for a region that makes up half of Angola's oil output. Chinese oil companies control the region at the moment.

FLEC warned the Chinese government to send Chinese citizens home because their presence constitutes a provocation.

The latest attacks resulted in the deaths of 10 Angolan soldiers. There were also attacks earlier this month where two rebels and 17 soldiers were killed. There have been nearly 40 deaths in total as a result of the conflict
