Militants suspected to be Niger Delta Avengers have conducted a daring operation against the Nigerian military. The ongoing coordinated attacks on crude oil facilities in the Niger Delta took fierce turn early this morning militants launched an offensive on a military houseboat that serves as a mobile barrack for the Nigerian troops.
The attack took place near the Egwa 1 flow station in Delta State at around 3.45am. All soldiers onboard numbering 12 and seven civilian staff of Chevron were killed during the operation, LeadersNG reports.
No known militant group, including the Niger Delta Avengers have yet claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of filing this report.
The OML 24, a reserve field owned by Nigerian Oil Development Company and a Shell flow station located in the area were all attacked by the militants.
Almost all the villagers in Egwa 1 and surrounding communities are leaving for Warri out of fear and panic. LeadersNG spoke with some members of Egwa 1 community who confirmed that 12 soldiers and 7 civilian staff of Chevron have been confirmed dead.
The news is coming as it was today revealed that @General' Muhammadu Buhari canceled his scheduled to Ogoni, as he was scared he would be assassinated today.

A security source that also spoke to us on the phone, said the attack occurred around 3:45 a.m. “I cannot give you all the details of the incident now but I can confirm to you that a military houseboat was attacked by suspected militants.
“I cannot confirm the number of causalities to you right now as details of the incident is still trickling in, but am sure that later today, we would get details on the true position of things,” the source added.
